Religion

Our Religion program in Kindergarten focuses on the development of self, the natural world and engaging with Jesus and his lessons throughout our daily activities. The religion table in our classroom is part of the centres the students can choose from and many, especially around an exciting time like Advent and Christmas, choose to engage with the artefacts on the table. Here are the parts to our religion program called "In God's Image":

  • Me - We see each child as a trace of God through celebrating their names, feelings, family and abilities.
  • Earth Times - We learn to see traces of God in the seasons.
  • Community - We celebrate friends and helping others.
  • Changes - We celebrate and understand the value of life changes such as the birth of a new sibling or moving to a new house.
  • Plants and Animals - We learn to see traces of God in the diversity of animals and beauty of plants in our world.
  • Special Days - We celebrate special days such as birthdays, Mother's Day and Father's Day.
  • Church Times - We learn about God's gifts to us in His Son Jesus through the celebration of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.
One item that is special and always found on our Religion table is a photo album containing photos of all our friends in our class and our adventures. We like looking through these photos and remembering all the fun times we have had!

Two students explore a picture book about the Christmas Story and light the Advent candles.
